The 24-year old Guilford, Connecticut native is forced to leave the game, but will be okay after the dizziness and headaches caused by a mild concussion wear off. The at-bat will remain his only taste of major league action until the Miami Marlins give him a chance to have the “at-bat he never completed” on the last day of the 2012 season.

Oakland defeats Cleveland, 12 – 2. Down by nine runs in the 8th inning, the Indians bring OF Mark Whiten in to pitch. The strong-armed Whiten allows one run on a double, a hit by pitch (Scott Spiezio), and two walks, but also strikes out three batters (Mike Blowers, Miguel Tejada, and Mike Neill). He becomes the only player in major league history, with at least one inning pitched, to get every out with a strikeout.

The Astros and Orioles engage in a slugfest in Baltimore, with Houston coming out on top, 15 – 8. After George Springer leads off the game with a homer off Wade Miley, the Orioles set a modern record by hitting four home runs before making an out in their first turn at-bat. Facing Collin McHugh, Adam Jones homers on the first pitch, then Hyun Soo Kim singles, and Manny Machado, Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo all homer in succession for a quick 5 – 1 lead. However, the Astros score 5 runs in the 2nd, and keep going from there to win the game. Springer goes 4 for 5 and José Altuve homers and has 5 RBIs for Houston as 8 long balls are hit overall.

After being shut out by the Mets in back-to-back games, the Nationals have their biggest offensive game since moving to Washington, DC in 2005. They beat the Orioles, 17 – 5, launching 6 homers. Jayson Werth hits two of the long balls, and Danny Espinosa, who collects 6 RBI, Roger Bernadina, Wilson Ramos and Laynce Nix hit the others. Both the 17 runs and the 6 homers are team marks since the move to the nation’s capital.
