Jack Coombs pitches A’s to a 3-0 lead on one days rest`

On October 20, 1910 — On one day of rest, Jack Coombs of the Philadelphia Athletics pitches a complete game to beat the Chicago Cubs, the score was tied 3-3 after 2 innings and then the A’s erupt for 5 runs in the 3rd. The A’s go on to rap out 16 hits in a 12 – 5 victory, Harry McIntire took the lose for the Cubs,  The win gives the Athletics a 3-0 lead in the World Series. ‘Colby Jack’ also collects three hits and drives in three runs in the West Side Park contest.

Coombs is not done, he will clinch the series for the A’s on 2 days rest.
