On July 8, 1965 — At County Stadium Joe Morgan is the first Houston player with six hits in a game, but the Milwaukee Braves beat the Astros, 9 – 8, in 12 innings, thanks to Mike de la Hoz. De la Hoz hits a pinch homer in the 8th inning, ties the game in the 9th with a single when the Braves scored three runs, and singles and scores the winning run to end the game.

The 21-year-old rookie second baseman’s stellar performance, which includes two home runs and a double he added a stolen base for good measure.
