Ken Griffey of the Atlanta Braves swats three solo home runs against the Philadelphia Phillies

On July 22, 1986, At Fulton County Stadium, Ken Griffey of the Atlanta Braves swats three solo home runs all against Kevin Gross of the Philadelphia Phillies. In spite of Griffey’s outburst, the Braves lose the game, 5-4, in 11 innings. Griffey becomes the second member of the Braves in the last month to hit three or more home runs as part of a losing effort.

Griffey homered in the bottom of the 9th to make it a 4-3 Game, and Steve Bedrosian then allowed the Braves to tie the game and skeays out of a bases loaded jam. Tom Foley will single in Von Hayes in the 11th, the Braves could not get Dale Murphy across in the bottom of the 11th after a leadoff double.
