On October 22, 1992, legendary broadcaster Red Barber dies at the age of 84. Barber announced games for the Cincinnati Reds, Brooklyn Dodgers, and New York Yankees. In 1978, Barber and Mel Allen received the Hall of Fame’s first Ford C. Frick Award.
