Legendary New York Mets broadcaster Lindsey Nelson was born on May 25, 1919

He was the play-by-play man for the Mets for the first 17 years in their franchise history (1962-1978). Nelson was known for his colorful, loud sport coats. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1988, winning the Ford C. Frick Award.
