Los Angeles’s Don Drysdale beats the Mets, 7 – 3 despite Duke Sniders homerun vs his former teammates

On May 22, 1963 — At Dodger Stadium, The dodgers win their 8th straight game vs the New York Mets 7-3 behind the 2 hit pitching of Don Drysdale. Both hits Drysdale gave up were home runs one to a long time former teammate Duke Snider. It was Snider’s first hit against the Dodgers since leaving the club. Drysdale would say after the game”I wanted to see if he could still hit the high hard one.” Drysdale grinned and said, “I found out he still could.” Snider’s shot was a solo homerun in the second. Drysdale now 5-4, also recorded his 1,300 strikeout for his career. Snider was also aboard when Tim Harkness unloaded for a 2 run shot against Drysdale (another former teammate).

Tommy Davis started the Dodger scoring with a 2 run homerun in the first the Dodgers would score 3 more in the 5th to take 5-1 lead.
