Baserunner Lyn Lary, thinking the fly ball is the third out, returns to the dugout without crossing home plate, and the ‘Iron Horse,’ trotting around the bases with his head down, is ruled out for passing a runner.
He ended the year tied for the lead in homers 46 with Babe Ruth and lost two RBI to add to his record-setting 184 for the season.
