On July 25, 1996 — Mark McGwire clouts his 37th homer into the 5th deck at Toronto’s Skydome, just the second player to reach there. The 488-foot drive off Huck Flener lands four rows up from where Jose Canseco hit one in the 1989 ALCS. The A’s still lose the game to the Jays, 4 – 3, when Joe Carter hits a dramatic two-run two-out homer in the bottom of the 9th. McGwire will hit his 38th tomorrow in an A’s win.
