Apr 21, 1932 – At Yankee Stadium, the Philadelphia A’s down 6-3 in the top of the 9th facing Red Ruffing score five runs in the 8th to beat the Yankees eight to six.

Ed Coleman reached on an error by Lyn Lary, both Jimmy Dykes and Mule Haas walked, setting the stage for Mickey Cochrane who blasts a grand slam to give the A’s the lead. Jimmie Foxx triples 2 batters later and scores on a Bing Miller Sacrifice fly. Roy Mahaffey (1-0) picks up the win, Ruffing (0-1) takes the loss and Rube Walberg picks up a save (although not a stat yet) pitching a scoreless 9th.
