Mike Cuellar of the Baltimore Orioles extends his streak of consecutive batters retired to 35

On August 10, 1969, Mike Cuellar’s (15-9) string of 35 straight batters retired is ended by Cesar Tovar, he surrendered a ninth inning single to Minnesota’s in a 2 – 0 win against the Twins. Tovar’s hit also breaks up Cuellar’s bid for a no-hitter. Earlier in the season, Tovar broke up the no-hit attempt of another Baltimore pitcher – Dave McNally.
