Biography
The International League Player of the Year in 1975, Vail was called up by the Mets that August and hit in 23 straight games to tie what was then both a club record and a modern NL rookie record. He dislocated his foot playing basketball the following February, missed half of the season, and was sold to Cleveland in 1978.
