MLB’s Top 10 Free-Agent Hitters of 2025

MLB’s free agency is always interesting. There is the saga that took Carlos Correa from San Francisco to New York and, finally, Minnesota. Aaron Judge had a back-and-forth with the Yankees before ultimately re-signing.

MLB news at Overtime Heroics is a great resource for those looking for further updates on baseball. The best hitters in MLB 2025 will be making plenty of headlines this offseason. Here is the list of MLB free-agent hitters in 2025 to be watching.

Juan Soto, OF

Easily the headliner of the class. If not for Shohei Ohtani shattering the glass ceiling last year, Soto would be in line to threaten records. At 26 years old, he could sign a deal of greater than 10 years and $500 million.

Pete Alonso, 1B

While his average might not be great, Alonso mashes with the best of the hot hitters in MLB. Though the salaries of first basemen have dropped recently, Alonso has the most home runs (192) since his debut in 2019.

Alex Bregman, 3B

Easily one of the best MLB free agent hitters in 2025, Bregman isn’t the MVP candidate he once was but can still rake. He’s consistent and it is going to take more than the $100 million he signed for five years ago.

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B

Flying under the radar a bit when talking about the best hitters in MLB 2025 is Goldschmidt. He’s one year removed from being MVP, but it is more than likely that he remains in St. Louis to finish his All-Star career.

Gleyber Torres, 2B/SS

Oswald Peraza is waiting in the wings, so of the hot hitters in MLB, Torres seems the clearest to reach free agency. Torres is still young, full of potential, and already delivers a punch at either second or short.

Christian Walker, 1B

His age (34) is a major detriment. Being in a stacked position (1B) is another. He’s been hitting well and winning Gold Gloves, but many projects his production to drop. He’ll get a raise but how much?

Willy Adames, SS

It wouldn’t be shocking to see him dealt, especially given the trade of Corbin Burnes. He’s athletic and has a great glove even though he had a disappointing year last year. At 29, he’s still got prime years left.

Anthony Santander, OF

Santander is just awesome, leading the Orioles in homers and doubles. He’s a leader and a good clubhouse guy. He could land elsewhere because of the plethora of outfield prospects but he’s a solid player.

Teoscar Hernandez, OF

The two-time Silver Slugger might be coming off a down year in Seattle and isn’t much defensively, but he can mash. Any lineup needs a strong lefty bat and Teoscar Hernandez fits the bill in that regard.

Michael Conforto, OF

Rounding out the class, Conforto is hoping free agency will go better this time. A shoulder injury hurt his value and he missed all of 2022. The Giants took a shot and he’s taken the opportunity to show that he can be a quality middle-of-the-lineup addition.
