Needing only 108 pitches, Kevin Millwood becomes the ninth pitcher in Phillies’ history to throw a no-hitter

On April 27, 2003 — Needing only 108 pitches, Kevin Millwood becomes the ninth pitcher in Phillies’ history to throw a no-hitter when he keeps the NL-West leaders Giants hitless beating them 1-0. The last franchise no-no before Millwood’s 1-0 masterpiece was thrown by Tommy Greene in 1991. Millwood fans 10 and walks three. The no-hitter comes exactly one year after baseball’s last no-hitter: by Derek Lowe of the Red Sox.
