Bill Virdon’s three-run homer was the deciding hit against Loser Al Jackson and Rookie Larry Bearnarth. Nine Pirates batted before the first out was made, and 13 went to the plate. Roberto Clemente started another Pirate uprising in the ninth with a homer. Pittsburgh closed out with a total of 17 hits, 11 of them in the last two innings.
