New York Yankees acquire ace pitcher David Cone

On July 28, 1995, the New York Yankees acquire ace pitcher David Cone from the Toronto Blue Jays for minor league pitchers Marty Janzen, Jason Jarvis and Mike Gordon. The trade for the right-hander, considered to be one of the best deals in franchise history, will prove to be an important piece as Cone will help New York reach the playoffs in 1995, and will become a major factor in the Yankees’ World Championships of 1996, 1998, and 1999.
