New York Yankees acquire first baseman Tino Martinez and pitcher Jeff Nelson from the Seattle Mariners

On December 7, 1995, The Yankees obtain 1B Tino Martinez‚ P Jeff Nelson‚ and minor league P Jim Mecir from the Mariners in exchange for P Sterling Hitchcock and 3B Russ Davis. In a memorable day‚ Martinez signs a five-year‚ $20.25 million contract‚ Tino Martinez celebrates his 28th birthday, and the birth of his Third child, his daughter, Victoria. Martinez will replace the retiring Don Mattingly and help the Yankees to World Championships in 1996, ’98, ’99, and 2000.
