Oakland A's announce Bob Geren as their manager

On November 17, 2006, the Oakland A’s announce Bob Geren as their manager, to pilot the defending AL West champions. He is replacing Ken Macha, who had been fired at the end of the season after Oakland goes down to defeat in the ALCS.

Geren was Macha’s bench coach and had been in the Oakland organization for eight years prior to his new role.
