On April 13, 1954 — At Busch Stadium On Opening Day off Chicago Cubs hurler Paul Milner, Wally Moon hits a home run in his first major league at-bat. The 24 year-old St Louis Cardinal center fielder, who will be selected as the National League’s Rookie of the Year, will also homer in the last at-bat of his freshman season.

Moon will hit .304 with 12 homeruns for the 1954 Cardinals.

Moon will later be known for his Moonshots he hit in LA with there short high fence in left field.
