Hoffman a teammate of Tony Gwynn used he to babysit, Gywnn, Jr. ultimately, his hit denies the Padres the chance to clinch a playoff spot on the next-to-the-last day of the season. The Brewers win the game in 10 innings. The Padres will also lose tomorrow’s season finale, resulting in a one-game playoff loss to Colorado that keeps the team out of the postseason.
