Prior to the start of the eighth inning at Comerica Park, a small boy races to the pitcher’s mound and grabs a baseball intended for Tigers’ reliever Brandon Lyon. The youngster is helped back into the stands near the visitors’ dugout and is allowed to keep the ball after a discussion between the boy’s uncle and ballpark security reveals that the six year-old had misunderstood a suggestion to go to the railing to try to get a ball from one of the Blue Jay players.
