Reggie Jackson wins the AL MVP

November 13, 1973 – Reggie Jackson is named AL MVP after hitting .293 and leading the league in home runs (32), RBI (117) and runs scored (99). The World Series MVP also led the A’s to their second consecutive World Series Championship in 1973.Jackson recieved all 24 first place votes, with Jim Palmer coming in a distant second. Teammates Sal Bando (4th), Catfish Hunter (10th), Deron Johnson, Billy North, Vida Blue  and Burt Campaneris also received MVP votes.

Jackson will finish in the top five for MVP voting 4 other times, and top 10 two other times. He ranks 32nd all time in MVP votes received at the time of this post.
