Rickey Henderson becomes highest paid player in the game

November 28, 1989, Rickey signs a four-year $12 Million deal to stay in Oakland, making him the highest-paid player in the game. He lead Oakland to their first World Series title in 1989 since 1973.

Henderson will win the MVP Award in 1990, his first and only.
