Rickey Henderson resigns with Oakland after being traded to Blue Jays at Deadline

 

 

On December 17, 1993 — 34-year-old Rickey Henderson resigns with the Oakland the A’s, signing a two-year $8.6 million contract. Making it is 2nd homecoming in 5 years to Oakland.

Henderson was traded on July 31, to the Toronto Blue Jays with Steve Karsay. The Toronto Blue Jays sent Jose Herrera (August 6, 1993) to the Oakland Athletics to complete the trade.

Henderson will help the Blue Jays capture their second straight World Series victory in 1993 beating the Phillies in 6 games, Henderson after drawing a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 9th off Mitch Williams will score the game-tying run on Joe Carter’s walk-off homerun 3 batters later.
