San Diego Padres win their first division crown

On September 20, 1984 — The San Diego Padres clinch their first NL West title since entering the league in 1969 with a 5 – 4 win over the San Francisco Giants. The key blow is winning pitcher Tim Lollar’s three-run home run in the 2nd inning, his third of the season.
