On July 27, 1966 — At Dodger Stadium, Sandy Koufax allows four hits strikes out sixteen Philadelphia Phillies, and Jim Bunning whiffs twelve while allowing six hit Dodgers in the first 11 innings of a pitching duel between future Hall of Famers.

With both starters out of the game, Los Angeles beats Philadelphia, 2-1, thanks to an unearned run scored in the bottom of the twelfth inning. When Lou Johnson singles in Bob Oliver who scores when Phil Linz misplays the relay.

Dick Allen accounted for the only Phillies run with his 22nd homerun of the season. Phil Regan picked up his 8th win vs one loss.
