On September 25, 1965, Satchel Paige of the Kansas City A’s became the oldest man to appear in a major league game. Paige, believed to be 59 years old, makes his first major league appearance since 1953 and hurls three shutout innings of relief against the Boston Red Sox. Paige strikeout one batter and surrenders only one hit-to Boston star Carl Yastrzemski…The Red Sox then jump on reliever Don Mossi and John Wyatt for a 5 – 2 win at KC’s Municipal Stadium.
