He strikes out 16 and walks none, breaking the team record for most K’s in a nine-inning game, which was 15, accomplished twice by John Smoltz. Warren Spahn once recorded 18 strikeouts in a game back in 1952, when the Braves were still playing in Boston, but had needed 15 innings to do so. The 16 strikeouts are also the most by any major league pitcher since 2019.
