St. Louis Cardinals win the seventh game of the World Series, but not before a near riot takes place

On October 9, 1934, Dizzy Dean and the St. Louis Cardinals win the seventh game of the World Series 11-0, the Cardinals erupted for 7 runs in the 3rd inning.

Dizzy Dean with 1 out doubled to left, Pepper Martin singled to first and stole second, then Jack Rothrock walked. Frankie Frisch lines a three run doubled to right. Schoolboy Rowe comes in to relive AUKER. He gets Ducky Medwick to grounded out to shortstop, then Rip Collins singled to left scoring Frisch. Bill DeLancey
doubled to right [Collins scored]; Chief HOGSETT REPLACED ROWE; Ernie Orsatti walked; Leo Durocher came up for second time in the inning and singled to right. Dean collects his second hit of the inning singles to third scoring DeLancey. Martin walks the bases loaded and then Tommy Bridges REPLACED HOGSETT (PITCHING); he mercifully ends the inning getting Rothrock to ground out to forced Martin.

The fireworks happened in the 6th when a near-riot takes place. After St. Louis’ Joe Medwick gets ejected by Commissioner Kenesaw Landis (for his own safety); after a near fight with Marv Owen, he was pelted with fruit and bottles when he tried to take the field; after a second try and a 20-minute delay, Landis
ruled Medwick removed.

The Cardinals up 9-0 had the game well in hand and will win 11-0. Dizzy Dean scatters 6 hits over 9 innings for the complete-game victory. 281,510 fans attended the 7 games. The winner’s world series share was $5,389.57 and the losers share was $3,354.68.
