Both leadoff hitters – Bernard Gilkey for the Cardinals and Trenidad Hubbard for the Rockies – homer in the 1st inning, marking the first time this has happened in the National League since 1986. One near tragedy occurs when 6-year-old Cameron Wilson suffers a skull fracture when hit by a foul ball off the bat of Eric Young. He will be okay.
