On December 10, 1944. Steve Renko is born in Kansas City, Kansas. He will go on to play 3 sports in college. He is a member of the Kansas Hall of Fame. He will be drafted by the Mets in 1969.
His best season was in 1973 when he had 15 wins, 164 strikeouts, & 2.81 ERA. he was a key contributor to the Angles in 1982 division title.
As a hitter, Renko was above average for a pitcher, posting a .215 batting average (114-for-531) with 44 runs, 6 home runs, 42 RBI, 3 stolen bases and 25 bases on balls.
In his 15-year career (1969-1983),. Renko had 134 wins, 1455 strikeouts, & 3.99 ERA.
