1937 – Cleveland’s Johnny Allen wins his 12th straight without a loss, equaling Tom Zachary’s 1929 record of 12-0.
1937 – Future Hall of Fame member Martin Dihigo pitches the first professional no-hit, no-run game on Mexican soil, a 4 – 0 victory against Nogales at Veracruz. In 1938, Dihigo will lead the Mexican League in four categories: ERA (0.90), wins (18-2), strikeouts (184), and batting (.387).
1937 – American League President Will Harridge upholds Cleveland’s protest of the August 6 Yankee win, and the entire game is replayed as the second game of a doubleheader. The protested game is called a tie with all stats retained except those following the disputed call.

Phil Cavarretta’s leadoff double in the 8th‚ a fly ball that Hub Walker overruns‚ an error and a botched sacrifice bunt load the bases. A wild pitch and a sacrifice fly win it for Curt Davis‚ breaking the Cubs’ 5-game losing streak.

1937 – For the second time this season, the first 2 batters in a game – the White Sox’s Boze Berger and Mike Kreevich – hit home runs.
Boze Berger and Mike Kreevich, the first two batters for the home team, both homer off Boston right-hander Johnny Marcum, giving the White Sox a quick 2-0 lead in the Comiskey Park contest. Chicago hits two additional round-trippers in the third inning, one including Berger’s second of the game and the other by Dixie Walker, accounting for all the runs in the team’s eventual 4-0 victory over the Red Sox.
