Gomez’s next pitch, like the three previous ones, bounces in the dirt, but C Kirt Manwaring is able to block it, preventing Gomez from becoming just the third pitcher ever to throw four wild pitches in an inning.

In the Mets’ 5-2 victory at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, southpaw closer John Franco picks up his 253rd save, the most by a left hander. The first two Braves’ batters in the lineup, Roberto Kelly and Jeff Blauser, both hit home runs off New York starter Pete Smith, but the back-to-back first inning round-trippers will prove to be the only scoring done by the team for the rest of the game.

On June 20, In a 7 – 1 defeat to the Indians, the Tigers’ string of 25 straight games of hitting a home run ends. The streak tied the major league record set by the 1941 New York Yankees.

On June 20, Umpires Dana DeMuth, Tom Hallion, Paul Runge and Angel Hernandez work the Atlanta-NY game wearing shorts and Braves T-shirts and caps. The umps’ regular equipment was lost in transit. The Braves win the game, 7 – 3.

On June 13 1994, Jeff Fassero of the Montreal Expos loses a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates when Carlos Garcia singles off his glove with two outs in the 9th inning. Jay Bell follows with a two-run home run, but the Expos hold on for a 10 – 2 victory.
