Baltimore OF Eric Davis has his 30-game hitting streak snapped in a 5 – 3 loss to the Indians.

Toronto’s Roger Clemens strikes out 15 but gets a no-decision, as the Anaheim Angels win, 6 – 3.

In the Reds-Expos game, two pairs of brothers face each other, and three out of four go deep. Vladimir Guerrero and Wilton Guerrero homer for the Expos while Bret Boone hits a solo shot for the Reds. Aaron Boonefollows with a strikeout, but the Reds win, 6 – 4.

In a 15-3 rout of the Indians at Jacobs Field, Chris Hoiles becomes the ninth player in major league history and the only catcher to hit two grand slams in the same game. The Orioles backstop goes yard with the bases full in the third inning off Charles Nagy and does it again in the eighth off Ron Villone.

Orlando Hernandez sets a Yankee rookie record by striking out 13 in beating Texas, 2 – 0.

Baltimore’s Harold Baines becomes the all-time leader in RBIs by a designated hitter when he drives in his 824th run in a 7 – 4 win over the Indians. Hal McRae was the previous record holder.
