The Mets roll over the Pirates, 12 – 2, scoring nine runs in the 3rd inning.
Bret Boone drives in six runs when he hits three home runs in the Padres’ 10-7 victory over Cincinnati. Ruben Rivera’s three-run homer in the top of the tenth inning off Scott Williamson proves to be the difference in the Cinergy Field contest.
The Padres bash the Reds, 10 – 7, in 10 innings. Bret Boone slugs three home runs and drives home six runs against his former Cincinnati teammates.
The Cardinals defeat the Giants, 11 – 10. San Francisco scores 8 runs in the 5th inning in a losing cause.

On June 21, 2000 The Oakland A’s defeat the Baltimore Orioles, 10 – 3, as Eric Chavez becomes the first Oakland player to hit for the cycle at home since the team moved to Oakland in 1968.
Eric Chavez becomes the 13th A’s player in the 100-year history of the franchise to hit for the cycle when he doubles (2nd), singles (4th), and triples (5th) off Mike Mussina, and completes the cycle with a home run (7th) off Jose Mercedes in the team’s 10-3 win over Baltimore. Oakland’s 22 year-old third baseman is the seventh-youngest major leaguer to accomplish the feat.
