Hardy, and a grand slam off the bat of Ryan Braun which sends him to the showers before he can retire a batter in the 2nd. The Brew Crew adds five runs off infielder Paul Janish in the 9th for a final score of 15 – 3. Manny Parra picks up his first win of the year after four losses.

The Dodgers tie a post-1900 major league record with their 12th straight win at home to open the season when they beat Arizona, 3 – 1. Detroit is the only other team to win its first twelve games at home, in 1911. Jeff Weaver picks up his first victory since 2007 for the Dodgers.
The game between Washington and Houston, both struggling in the basement of their respective divisions, is suspended with the score tied at 10 when heavy rain starts to fall with LaTroy Hawkins facing the Nationals’ Josh Willingham with a runner on and one out in the bottom of the 11th inning. The sloppily-played game features 13 walks, 3 errors, 18 runners left on base and numerous blown leads. It will be resumed on July 9th.

Manny Ramirez homers and drives in three runs, while Eric Stults picks up the win. Arizona pulls off the second triple play in franchise history in the 2nd, but to no avail.
Defeating San Diego 2-1 in 10 innings, the Dodgers tie a franchise record, winning their ninth consecutive decision at home from the start of the season. The 1946 club also reeled off nine straight victories at Brooklyn’s Ebbets Field at the beginning of the post-war campaign.
