However, Major League Baseball reminds everyone that teams have the sole right to determine which players end up on their roster, as confirmed under the Basic Agreement. Bryant will be called up on April 17th and will end up winning the Rookie of the Year Award.

In contrast with other recent signees, Olivera is already 29 years old and coming off some injuries at the end of his tenure in Cuba. When healthy, he was one of the top players on the island however, and the Dodgers are betting that he will age well.
