The double-triple takes place in the first inning and then again in the fourth as Philadelphia, who pummels the Indians, 14-1, will steal only 48 bases this season for the second-lowest total in the league, being six swipes ahead of the Red Sox.
1909 â With two men on base, Cleveland shortstop Neal Ball catches Amby McConnellâs line drive, gets Heinie Wagner at second, and then tags Jake Stahl completing the first modern major league unassisted triple play in a 6 â 1 win over the Red Sox. Cleveland wins, 6 â 1, behind Cy Young, but Boston wins the nitecap, 3 â 2.
At American League Park in Washington, D.C., the White Sox establish a new American League record, winning their 19th consecutive game with a 4-1 victory over the hometown Senators. In 2002, the Aâs will string together 20 straight wins to surpass the AL mark, but will fall one short of the major league mark established by the 1935 Cubs.

At Clevelandâs League Park, John Clarkson of the Spiders beats the Pirates 3-2 to become the fifth pitcher in major league history to record his 300th victory. The 31 year-old right-hander will compile a 328-178 record during his 12 year Hall of Fame career in the big leagues.
