Maddux intentionally walks Steve Finley in the 3rd inning to end the streak. Arizona 2B Junior Spivey gets 5 singles in the contest‚ becoming the 5th rookie in 50 years to have a pair of five-hit games in his first season. His other such contest was on June 21st.

The mental lapse of not knowing there was only one out in the frame allows both runners on base to score, but the Mets will prevail, beating San Francisco, 3-2.

Tim Raines, who broke in with Montreal in 1979 and represented the team in All-Star Games from 1981-1987, is inducted into the Expos’ Hall of Fame. In 2017, the 21-year veteran outfielder will be selected by BBWAA for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
