Clint Courtney of the Orioles hits the first major league home run in the ballpark. A Baltimore ownership group, which includes Clarence Mills, Jim Keelty, Jerry Hoffberger and Zanvyl Krieger, bought the former St. Louis Browns and brought the franchise to the Charm City.
In their first significant trade since moving from St. Louis, the Orioles, formerly known as the Browns, exchange outfielders with the Senators, sending Roy Sievers to Washington for Gil Conan. Sievers will spend five solid seasons in the nation’s capital, making the All-Star squad twice, and Conan, playing less than two seasons in Baltimore, compiles a .266 batting average with three home runs, appearing in 155 games.

1916 – Jack Dunn, owner of the International League Baltimore Orioles, buys the park built by the Baltimore Terrapins of the Federal League.
On April 22, 1914, future Hall of Famer Babe Ruth makes his pitching debut for the minor league Baltimore Orioles of the International League. The left-handed throwing Ruth allows only six hits in shutting out the Buffalo Bisons, 6-0. At the plate, Ruth picks up two singles in four at-bats.
Left with only five players available to play after mass defections to the National League, the Orioles forfeit a game to St. Louis and their franchise to the league, which borrows players from other teams and operates the club for the balance of the season.
