Future Yankees superstar Joe DiMaggio sees his 61-game hitting streak come to an end in the PCL game against the Oakland Oaks. The San Francisco Sealsā 19 year-old outfielderās accomplishment sets a new minor league record, shattering the mark of 49 established by Jack Ness in 1914.
Eighteen year-old Joe DiMaggio makes his professional debut at the end of the San Francisco Seals campaign, playing shortstop for the team. Next year, the future Yankee superstar will hit .340 with 169 RBIās and 28 home runs in his first full season in the Pacific Coast League.
