He also joins in with two hits and three RBI. John Smoltz is the loser as he allows seven runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 innings. The team, as the St. Louis Browns, had set the previous mark on August 18, 1951, in a 20 – 9 rout over the Detroit Tigers.
