On ,December 16 2008 — The Baltimore Orioles sign former St. Louis Cardinal César Izturis to a two year $6M deal to fill their gap at shortstop. Izturis was third in the National League in fielding percentage at short.
The 28 year-old free agent, considered an outstanding defensive player, won a Gold Glove playing with the Dodgers in 2004.
