On June 27, 2001 The Braves bump the slumping Phillies out of first place in the NL East with a 10 – 4 win over them. The Phils were 35-18 on June 1, and led the Braves by eight games before starting their tumble. Chipper Jones drives in three runs and Odalis Perez allows two earned runs.
At Boston, the Cardinals erupt for seven runs in the 15th inning to win, 10 – 3, handing the loss to starter Bob Smith. Smith goes 14 1/3 innings, allowing nine hits and 12 walks. Smith and Kent Greenfield allow the seven runs, a major-league record for the 15th inning. The Cards tied the game in the 9th on Andy High’s 2-out, 2-run single.

Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Francisco Barrios dies of heart attack in his native Mexico at the age of 28. Barrios was 14-7 for Chicago in 1977, despite recurring shoulder trouble.
April 9, 1982
Neptunus wins the 2017 Holland Series, beating the Amsterdam Pirates 4 games to 1 for their fifth straight Holland Series title. For the second time this Series, they come back late. Down 4-2 after being stifled by Kevin Heijstek, they score four in the 9th off Kyle Ward, Dennis Burgersdijk, Nick Veltkamp and Daan Hendrix. Neptunus closer Loek van Mil is named Series MVP after getting two wins and a save.
