On September 26, 2000 — The Atlanta Braves, who will finish the season with a 95-67 record, beat the second-place Mets at Shea Stadium, 7-1, to clinch the NL East title. Atlanta has captured a record nine-consecutive division crowns (not counting 1994 when they were in second place when the strike ended the season early). but will be swept in the NLDS by St. Louis.
