On December 7, 1979 — The Cardinals trade OF Jerry Mumphrey and P John Denny to the Indians for OF Bobby Bonds. Denny will struggle in Cleveland but will a Cy Young in 1983 for the Phillies who will make the World Series. Bonds will retire in 2 seasons. Mumphrey will get traded again before the start of the season and continue having a very productive career until 1989.
