On July 17, 1906 The Chicago Cubs beat back the New York Giants, 6 – 2, as Three-Finger Brown tops Christy Mathewson. Joe Tinker’s two-run homer in the 6th is the big blow for Chicago. The loss drops the Giants to 6 games behind the Cubs.
