The Dodgers hire Brooklyn-born Joe Torre as their 26th manager in franchise history

On November 1, 2007 — The Dodgers hire Brooklyn-born Joe Torre as their 26th manager in franchise history, the eighth since the club moved to the West Coast from their new manager’s hometown. The former Yankee manager was replaced in New York this week by Joe Girardi, despite leading them to the postseason 12 straight seasons.

Giaradi had been initially pursued by Los Angeles to replace the team’s skipper, Grady Little.
