On December 4, 1958 — The Dodgers trade OF Gino Cimoli to the Cardinals for OF Wally Moon and RHP Phil Paine. The club’s new outfielder will quickly become known for his ‘Moon Shots,’ 250+ foot high fly balls to left field at the LA’s Memorial Coliseum which clear the 40-foot-high screen for home runs. Moon will hit 37 of his career 143 homeruns playing in just 225 Games in the Coliseum. During his career except for the Coliseum he hit a homerun every 45 at bats, in LA before Dodger Stadium he his one every 21 At bats.
Moon will also play on 2 World Championship teams in LA, 1959 and 1965.
