On October 11, 1968 — The San Francisco Giants name Clyde King as the team’s new manager, replacing Herman Franks. San Francisco fires their new skipper, who will guide the club to 90 victories in 1969, after the team blows an 8-0 lead in a contest against the Padres in May 23, 1970. The game will end up a 17-16 in 15 innings, for the Giants Willie Mays will go 4-6 with 2 homeruns and Nate Colbert will go 5-8 for the Padres.

King will also manage 2 partial seasons in Atlanta and 1 in New York.  He will finish his career with 234 wins, 229 loses.
